Vaal people are friendly and welcoming and are the people you’d want to get acquainted with. Sadly, language can be a barrier, but worry not because we’ve got you covered. Here are some few basic words you should know if you want to connect with the right people.
Grootman – This means a brother. You use this to show respect to a brother or an older man (not too old), and to acknowledge them as your brother. For a female you just say my sister.
Ntjaka- Loosely translates; my dog. Don’t be caught saying bafo. Save that for when you go to KZN.
Mzala - It means cousin in a true Zulu translation, but here a guy would use it to refer to a girl or lady. Bomzala in plural, which we never lack of beautiful ones.
Swaar - This one I believe is used as ‘man’. You’d use it as Eya swaar, meaning yeah man. However, you use this to people you’re close to.
Now that you know your way through a conversation, go out there and own the streets ntjaka.
